Salem Lorde "Ace" - Fool's Deck - sniper rifle - rogue - fire - 16
Salem Lorde was the unwanted bastard son of a crime lord in the depths of downtown Detroit's worst places. His mother was one of a pimp's best girls that his dad singled out one night for nothing more than selfish pleasures. His mother was rather wide and he was rather small, so she hardly knew she was pregnant till she was already eight months along. By then, it was too late to get rid of him. She tried to pas him off elsewhere, but none of the other girls wanted him. So she took her infant son and waited on the side of a street. Just waiting. For what? Who knew. Opportunity perhaps. She found it when a taxi drove close by with its windows rolled down. When it pulled up to the stoplight, she lunged forward, threw her baby into the taxi, and ran off. The startled passenger -a New York businessman on a trip- was rather put off by the whole thing, and was determined to drop Salem off at the first orphanage he could find. But when he was forced to keep Salem with him overnight, he thought long and hard about the whole situation before him. His wife had always wanted a baby, but they could never have one of their own. So he took Salem home with him, and after a few years of legalities, they adopted him as their own. He met his mother when he was nine. She somehow tracked him down and showed up on the doorstep of his adopted parents' house one day. Uninvited and unwanted, she pushed past them and grabbed Salem, shaking him by the shoulders. She yelled obscenities and all sorts of other things at him, which Salem would later realize was her way of saying he had caused all her problems and she wished he had died. Apparently her life had taken a turn for the worst when his father learned what she did with his son. Mr. Lorde shoved her out the door, and Mrs. Lorde called the cops. Salem's birth mother as wanted for drug dealing, illegal gambling, and killing three police officers. She was sentenced to life in prison. He visited her when he was fifteen. She said she loved him and wanted his forgiveness, but he heard the sarcasm in her voice and glared right back into her sneering face. He vowed never to see her again after that. Mr. and Mrs. Lorde were parents enough for him. Besides the few, unpleasantries in his youth, Salem was always happy with a rather bright past and future laid out for him. He had an excellent school with a lot of friends. He played the guitar and could sing, which he did so at several Battle of the Bands competitions. He aspired to be a vet one day. But everything took an unfortunate turn for his future when he started playing the new video game Alternate Universe Online. You can guess what happened then. Salem Lorde is sixteen years old with fiery golden hair and brilliant amber eyes. It matches his fire element. He is called the Ace in the Fool's Deck Clan, because he is, quite literally, the ace up their sleeve. What appears to be so bright, happy, and maybe even pointless at first glance, can quickly become a ruthless and brutal adversary, especially when leaping from tree to tree only to spin around and plug a sniper round in his target's back without so much as a moment to pause for breath. Many underestimate this soft-spoken boy, and that is the last thing they usually do.
